Nursery color choices - in Flash

Yesterday, Andrew and my dad finished tearing down the old wallpaper in the nursery. What’s underneath isn’t so pretty - a layer of old sizing for the wallpaper and some other gobbledy-gook. It looks like we’re going to have to learn how to skim coat in order to even out these walls before priming and painting (we’ll use Benjamin Moore’s EcoSpec, since I’m leery of using anything more toxic than that while pregnant).

I played around with the swatch colors in Photoshop and animated the choices in Flash - the color should be pretty accurate:

  1. First, this is REALLY COOL. Second, I really like the apple green the best! It’s just so… juicy looking! :D Any green is a good choice though, and I’m not just saying that because green is my favorite color… ;)

  3. Thanks, Amy. I am sooo indecisive when it comes to color on my walls sometimes. I like your handle, by the way - Larkness Monster! Oh, and your nursery is looking great!

  5. I’m colour blind so cant honestly comment ! I’m not allowed to pick colours at home.

BUT I really like the way you have created the “flash” idea.

  7. I’m a big fan of apple green paint colors and have yet to find a good one that’s not too neon or too drab. I recommend buying sample pots/quarts of your color choices and trying them out on the walls before committing yourself to a gallon or two. I’ve personally used Wales Green and it’s super bright. That said, maybe you want super bright. On the swatch it doesn’t appear very bright but it really is.

  9. Jenny,

I love the custom fonts you’ve incorporated into your site’s headers and such. I did a little snooping and discovered that you use siFR to convert your header font into flash titles, which I didn’t even know existed before your site. (In short, you are so cool.) If I grovel a little bit more, would you condescend to use your snazzy Flash skills to convert a free font (http://www.urbanfonts.com/fonts/Elegant.htm) to a siFR file for me? I’ve downloaded and installed OpenSiFR, but it’s not working with this font … and I’ve also installed the CG Flashy Titles plugin, but I need a siFR file to make it work. Please? Pretty please? (Not that you’re not busy or anything.) :)

  11. Any updates on the baby preparations? Which color paint did you wind up choosing? I can’t wait to see everything you’ve selected, it promises to be lovely!

  13. Hi Joanne,

I wish I had something to update, but the nursery remains unpainted. We’ve primed the walls, though, so it’s a start. I’m hoping to get it finished this weekend - I’ll definitely post some photos when it’s done!
